Dear PAOV,
It’s time to stand with Indigenous Peoples whose visionary legal actions are carving out a way forward in the midst of a climate and human rights crisis.
RAVEN has joined forces with Wet’suwet’en leadership to fundraise for two ambitious, game-changing — and costly — legal challenges. As the only charitable organization in Canada solely dedicated to raising funds for Indigenous Nations’ access to justice, we are so appreciative that, because of your support, we can show up to for the Wet’suwet’en and support these new court cases. In just one week, we have raised a truly astonishing $100k.
The Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs are demonstrating formidable integrity in their pursuit of justice: even while under enormous pressure from government and the RCMP, they are negotiating on behalf of future generations with a sophisticated and sweeping set of legal challenges. It is a great responsibility, and an honour, to be standing together.
“The climate crisis is already hitting our House territories hard. You only have to look at the shrinking Hudson Bay Mountain glacier and count the salmon. If Canada is allowed to continue approving infrastructure for fracked gas projects on a 40-year timeline, our territories will become a wasteland before the project licenses expire", said Dini Ze’ Lho'imggin (Alphonse Gagnon).
Wet’suwet’en’s latest court challenges are grounded in well-researched legal strategy: both cases aim to break new ground in providing tools to allow governments to cancel projects that do irreparable damage to the climate, and to the rights of Indigenous communities.

GET ACTION TOOLKITWe are so moved by the outpouring of solidarity through action from this community, determined to do whatever it takes for human rights. The Indigenous Music Summit is organizing a series of benefit concerts, starting with shows in Toronto and Yellowknife on February 27. Last weekend, Earnest Ice Cream raised over $3,000 in Vancouver with a delicious fundraiser, photographer Hannah Micaela is donating photo portrait sessions to the campaign, and Luke Wallace is holding concerts with proceeds to Wet’suwet’en. From organizing events around sharing food, music, and art, anything is possible and everything creates impact.
Will you join us in standing alongside the Wet’suwet’en as they defend their rights and pursue environmental justice? Donate now, and get the action toolkit here to find out how you can get involved and create even greater impact for the Wet’suwet’en.
DONATEWith gratitude and determination,
Maia, Ana and Andrea
P.s. We are witnessing a historic moment of unyielding dedication to Indigenous sovereignty. This amazing time offers an opportunity to right the wrongs of the past and show up as strong allies. Will you support the Wet’suwet’en?
