We hope that each and every member of the RAVEN community is safe and cared for. We are so grateful for this circle of allyship to turn to during these uncertain times. Wherever you have made your nest, may you weather the coming days and weeks with the knowledge that - though we are each our own separate entity right now - like an archipelago of islands, we remain connected beneath the surface.

If nothing else, this is a time of tuning in and diving deep, as we look to online resources to fill our days at home.

Speaking of resources…. our baby podcast is taking its third step! Please help us find our feet by rating, reviewing, and subscribing to RAVEN (De)Briefs on iTunes, or wherever you get your podcasts!

We are incredibly excited to share Episode 3 of RAVEN (De)Briefs with very special guest Bruce McIvor. For those of you familiar with his work, you’ll know he is both an eminent authority on Aboriginal Law and an incredible ally to Indigenous Peoples. Bruce spends his days teaching at UBC’s Allard School of Law when he’s not helming a busy law practice dedicated to defending and advancing Indigenous rights.

In this episode, Bruce McIvor speaks to the promise, and challenge, of pursuing Indigenous rights through the courts. We’ll look at the recent decisions on the Trans Mountain pipeline cases, backed by RAVEN supporters, and hear Bruce’s thoughts on how limiting the scope of consultation failed to honour the spirit of the Constitution.

Check out the latest episode by searching "RAVEN (De)Briefs" on iTunes, or find it on our website here.

We will also hear from RAVEN’s Campaigns Director, Ana Simeon, about the exciting new climate challenge launched by Wet’suwet’en. Ana speaks passionately about this case and its potential to protect the rights of not only Indigenous Peoples but of all Canadians.

Join us for a lively, story-filled episode that will unpack some misconceptions around whose land this is, anyway; and how we can all be part of reshaping this country we call home.

From our ‘island’ to yours, with love and solidarity,

The RAVEN Team

P.S. Did you miss the first two episodes? They’re really worth a listen. Hear from Indigenous lawyer and RAVEN board president Jeffrey Nicholls in Episode One; in Episode Two, catch Heiltsuk law student and reconciliation negotiator Saul Brown. Go to iTunes, Spotify or Podbean to share, subscribe, and review to help amplify these important voices.
