Thanks to you – Lloyd's of London insurer, Apollo, drops Adani coal project r1

Hi Paov,

We won – thanks to you!

Adani’s Insurer and Lloyd’s of London Syndicate, Apollo, has dropped Adani’s Carmichael coal project after pressure from you and the wider #StopAdani movement.

Apollo confirmed that it will no longer provide any insurance cover for Adani’s coal mine, rail project or coal port after their current construction policy terminates in September 2021.

Stop Adani Protest

Earlier this week, activists with the Insure our Future Campaign delivered two giant postcards to the Lloyds CEO John Neal in London, and on Wednesday night, the Pacific Climate Warriors alongside over 1700 people around the world joined the #LloydsInsureOurFuture Online Rally!

If we can close the entire Lloyd’s marketplace to Adani and coal, we can prevent some of the most dangerous new projects on the planet from getting insurance. Without insurance, projects like Adani’s simply won’t be viable.

We need to do everything we can to keep global heating to below 1.5°C for our islands to thrive and survive.

Let’s keep the pressure on so that Lloyd’s insures our future and NOT Adani’s mines!

Onwards,
