It's World Water Day! Water Drops from students Dear Friend,

Happy World Water Day!

For almost 30 years, people around the world have taken March 22 as an opportunity to celebrate this life-giving resource, and to renew our commitment to protect it.

You have shown how much you care about water, by helping us do incredible advocacy work in support of communities suffering without access to clean, safe drinking water. With your support, we’ve stood toe-to-toe with mega corporations like Nestlé who are looking to bottle, pollute, privatize, and profit from the water that belongs to everyone.

Will you help us continue fighting for water justice and protecting community water sources? Here are four tangible ways to do that right now!
  1. Call on the federal government to end drinking water advisories in First Nations. There is nothing more important than clean water, especially now in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The lack of clean, safe drinking water in First Nations is one of the greatest violations of the UN-recognized human rights to water and sanitation.
  2. Start a monthly gift (or increase your monthly gift) to help protect lakes, rivers and drinking water sources year-round. Monthly gifts are so important to sustaining the Council of Canadians’ critical public advocacy work to hold corporations and governments to account and allow us to better plan campaigns long-term.
  3. Help make your community a “Blue Community.” The Council’s Blue Communities Project, done jointly with CUPE and Eau Secours, gives people the tools they need to encourage municipalities and other communities to ban bottled water, protect the human right to water and promote public water services.
  4. Ask the children in your life to send a message to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau using this water droplet. Ask them how they feel about the fact that kids in First Nation communities don’t have the same access to clean water as they do, and then take a photo or scan of their droplet and r71 | Add us to your address book Facebook Twitter Instagram Website Copyright © 2021 Council of Canadians, All rights reserved.
