Iron & Earth is thrilled to have worked with industry professionals over the past year to develop new rapid upskilling programs that will prepare fossil fuel industry and Indigenous workers for careers in solar and wind energy.

Now we are looking for experienced electricians and other tradespeople that are passionate about renewable energy and climate solutions to enroll in our Train the Trainer (TtT) program to train up and deliver these programs this summer and in the years to come!

High-level Train the Trainer (TtT) Program details:

  • It is a total of 20 hours of coursework
  • Instructors will be compensated $1150 + GST for their participation
  • It is a part-time 4-week program (just a few hours/week) and begins on April 17th
  • Application deadline is this Sunday, April 12th

We are accepting applications from candidates across Canada and have a particular need for... instructors who are based in Maskwacis (Alberta), Taber (Alberta), Edmonton (Alberta), and Newfoundland & Labrador.

Instructors will be paid between $400-800/day during the delivery of our programs, pending experience, qualifications, and ability to provide equipment required for projects (see information below about the potential to deliver our programs).

TRAIN THE TRAINER PROGRAM CONTEXT

The goal of the Train the Trainer (TtT) program is to ensure our instructors are confident with our training materials and ready to deliver our programs this summer.

The TtT program will include 2-hour live instructional training sessions, between 9-11 am MT, every Saturday on these dates: April 17 & 24 and May 1, 8 & 15.

DELIVER OUR UNIQUE PROGRAMS FOR YEARS TO COME

We will be delivering a minimum of three training programs this summer:

  1. 10-Day RenuWell Workforce Training Program in Taber, Alberta
  2. 10-Day Community Solar Skills in Maskwacis, Alberta
  3. 10-Day Community Wind Skills in Maskwacis, Alberta

One of our goals as an organization is to meet a wide range of rapid upskilling needs across Canada in the years to come. This will require us to continue developing and delivering programs across dozens of climate solutions, including energy efficiency, hydrogen, nature-based solutions, geothermal, biofuels, and many more.

All will include the unique elements of our 10-Day rapid upskilling programs:

  1. Delivery of our programs in remote and Indigenous communities
  2. Designed for, and focused delivery for, fossil fuel industry workers and Indigenous community members
  3. Five days of hands-on experience
  4. Indigenous ways of knowing reflected in the course structure and content
  5. Connection to a career mentorship program for program graduates
