Carlo Escario worked directly with COVID-19 patients in the intensive-care unit at Toronto General Hospital since the start of the pandemic.

But now, the Government of Canada plans to deport this healthcare hero for a mistake he made on his immigration application 10 years ago.

Carlo risked his life to save others. He deserves to stay in Canada.

Carlo arrived in Toronto in 2007 as a live-in caregiver and became a permanent resident in 2010.

But his immigrant status was revoked in 2013 because he was failed to declare he was married and had a child in the Philippines.

Carlo met his now-estranged wife and impregnated her while he was waiting for his work permit to come to Canada under the live-in caregiver program and failed to update his application fearing further processing delay.

Carlo has fully admitted his mistake.

But this is a man who has proven that he’s willing to sacrifice his life in the service of other Canadians.

We, the undersigned, implore you to forgive him, and let him stay so he can continue to serve his community.
