Take Action

Dear PAOV,

Change is happening. Community by community — from Hawaii to California to the Midwest — we are shifting control of food and farming out of the hands of the "Big 6" pesticide and biotech corporations. It's a tough uphill battle, with plenty of pushback from Monsanto, Dow and their allies. But with your help, we're making progress.

You make this work possible » For too long, the Big 6 have wielded unprecedented power over our food system, aggressively pushing genetically engineered (GE) seeds and driving up use of harmful pesticides. Your gift to PAN today will help us keep building momentum for healthy food, farms and communities across the country. Together, we can do this.

As you know, the Big 6 — Monsanto, Syngenta, Bayer, BASF, DuPont and Dow — exert incredible influence on laws and regulations across the country, thanks to a bevy of well funded lobbyists. But from coast to coast, change is afoot:

  • In Kaua'i this past fall, residents fought for — and won — a bill to better protect local communities from pesticides used on the island's GE test fields. Residents continue to stand strong, even as the pesticide corporations sue to overturn the new law and attempt to pass state legislation to undercut local protections.
  • In California, a bill to label genetically engineered food was just introduced last week. Monsanto & Co. spent more than $20 million to defeat the last state effort to label GE food. But we''re already seeing incredible support across California to get it across the finish line this time around.
  • Across the Midwest, farmers and communities are raising the alarm about the next wave of GE crops coming down the pike. USDA is gearing up to approve Dow's 2,4-D-resistant corn and soy, with Monsanto's dicamba-resistant crops not far behind. Citing threats to crops, livelihood and health from widespread use of these antiquated pesticides, more than 250,000 people are standing up to say enough is enough.

Donate today » The most powerful force for change is people working together — and that's exactly what's happening. Your gift today will help ensure this exciting momentum continues to build.

Thank you for being a part of the the powerful PAN community.
