A,

TC Energy is ramping up its construction work in Wet’suwet’en territory two years after land and water defenders caught the world’s attention by peacefully resisting the RCMP.

Since then, TC Energy has attempted to keep a low profile, hoping that the world will look away. Recently, they have started encroaching deeper and deeper into Wet’suwet’en territory, and last week they started construction that would endanger the Sacred Headwaters.

Enough is enough: the construction on Coastal GasLink needs to stop now. And we can stop this pipeline if its biggest financial backers pull-out

RBC, TD, Scotia, BMO, and CIBC are bankrolling TC Energy to the tune of tens of billions of dollars and if it calls on the corporation to... stop its operations, it will listen.

A majority of Canadians bank at the Big 5 banks, and if we collectively call on the banks to take action we can stop its construction in its tracks.

Call on the Big 5 Banks to stop the construction of Coastal GasLink and divest their shares from TC Energy by the end of 2021 if they press ahead.

In response to the encroachment on their land by TC Energy, Wet’suwet’en hereditary leadership have called on you for help.

Last year, thousands of people across Canada blockaded rail, truck and ferry traffic across the country in solidarity with the Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs who have been bravely and peacefully resisting resource extraction projects for years.

In particular, Wet’suwet’en leadership are calling on SumOfUs members like you to speak out to pressure TC Energy’s biggest funders.

The Big 5 banks have all said they will abide by their commitments on Indigenous sovereignty and to tackle climate change. Yet, the big banks continue to pour tens of billions of dollars into TC Energy -- a company that is violating Indigenous rights, continuing colonial violence, threatening the health of those on the frontlines, and contributing to run away climate change.

That’s why we need you to call on the Big 5 banks to speak out against construction of the Coastal GasLink and stop funding TC Energy now.

Sign the petition calling on RBC, TD, Scotia, BMO and CIBC to stop the construction of Coastal GasLink and its financial relationship with TC Energy if it doesn’t.

Thanks for all that you do,
