Dear Friend,
In October, we announced that we are going back to court to fight against prolonged solitary confinement. Many of you stepped up and made a donation to support this lawsuit – thank you!
We couldn’t have done this work without you. After years of advocacy, in 2019 we had a historic win when the BC Court of Appeal ruled that the federal laws that permitted prolonged, indefinite solitary confinement were inhumane and unconstitutional.
But this inhumane practice never stopped. Wardens at federal prisons continue to isolate people in long-term solitary confinement by using lockdowns and “restrictive movement routines.”
We are resolute to end this torturous practice, and we are thankful to have supporters like you to be on our side.
We will continue to send updates to this important case – and we have an exciting announcement to make in the coming week. Please stay tuned.
Thank you... for being a part of the tide of change.
Sincerely,
Sambriddhi Nepal (she/her)
