Dear Friend,

You may have heard about our new lawsuit to end prison lockdowns and restricted movement routines.

Now, I’m excited to tell you about an event we’re hosting to support this lawsuit – and you’re invited!

Get your ticket today!

The government claims that long-term solitary confinement has been banned. That is not the case. Wardens at federal prisons continue to isolate people in long-term solitary confinement for more than 22 hours a day by using lockdowns and “restrictive movement routines.”

Conditions in prisons, like solitary confinement, don’t happen in a vacuum. They are informed by civil liberties... and human rights issues that impact marginalized and oppressed communities.

Peoples’ rights are being violated, with devastating consequences for their physical and mental wellbeing. Solitary confinement is debilitating, dehumanizing and must stop now.

That is why we are bringing you our next online panel event to discuss prison conditions in Canada, and how they interact with other issues in our society.

When: November 24th, 6:00 – 7:30 pm PST/ 9 – 10:30 pm EST

Who:

- Jen Metcalfe: Prisoners’ Legal Services
- El Jones: Poet, journalist and professor
- Megan Tweedie: Senior council, litigation. BCCLA

We’ll be in conversation and raising funds to support BCCLA’s fight in the courts to end solitary confinement.
