Paov,
Last week people across the country pledged to help us build a bigger climate movement by convincing their friends and family to take action with us in 2022.
I’ll be honest, we aren’t nearly as close to our recruitment goal as we need to be at this point to put our ambitious plans into action to defeat Big Oil. Can we count on you to recruit your friends and family to build a powerful climate movement?
Having conversations about the climate crisis can seem intimidating, but the truth is we won’t win this fight without bringing other people onboard. It was a long, hard and hot year, and more likely than not, the people in your life are just as worried as you are about the climate crisis. With tens of thousands of people waking up to the climate emergency for the first time, we have a chance to turn those climate worriers into a wave of new climate organizers. How many new climate organizers we can recruit before our organizing call in January will help us determine how ambitious we can... be as a movement in the New Year.
When I think about my own path into the climate movement, it was marked by conversations with people I trusted, and friends who helped guide me from peak climate anxiety during the 2018 wildfires that filled Edmonton’s skies with smoke for weeks to taking my first action with Climate Justice Edmonton.
One of the intimidating things about joining any social movement is simply not knowing where to start. But this moment — with the climate clock ticking and our politicians still stalling — calls for everyone to get involved. That’s why we’re hosting a mass organizing call on January 20th where the people in your life can learn why they have an important role to play in the climate movement and how they can contribute to our campaign for a rapid, just transition off of fossil fuels.
We need as many people as possible to join before our call in January, but we can’t do it without your support. Sign up now to bring your people into the movement. We’re going to need everyone in 2022.
Onwards,
Chris
