Dear friend,

OK, here is where we are at. As I write this to you, we have raised $2,910 or 24% of our goal of $12,000.

That number – $12,000 – is part of our fundraising challenge to raise $1,000 more than we did this time last year. I know we can do this if everyone supports us like they did last year. Without that financial support, we could face some difficulties in 2022.

I am a little nervous.

To get there, we are appealing to everyone who has not yet donated to us in 2021. We need everyone to contribute to help take us over the top. Every donation counts.

Donate Now By the way, in case you need a reminder about how important your support is right now, take a moment to read some of our plans for 2022 below. And that is just for starters.

Friend, join me in making a big difference in 2022. Renew your support today. Ravi Joshi My sincere thanks,

Ravi Joshi
Co-Executive Director

Priorities for 2022
  1. We’ll push for just transition legislation that moves us off fossil fuels and includes workers, impacted communities, and Indigenous peoples in shaping and implementing the transition.
  2. We’ll work to ensure equitable access to medicines and vaccines, at home and internationally. The pharmaceutical lobby has effectively stalled pharmacare domestically and blocked equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines around the world. They exercise far more influence than they deserve within Parliament and toss our collective health and well-being to a market shaped to serve their interests and profits. It’s time for MPs to refuse Big Pharma’s monopolies and instead support a People’s Vaccine and pharmacare here at home.
  3. And we’ll continue to advocate for public, healthy, and accessible water. We’ll push for a federal Canada Water Agency that supports local communities and Indigenous groups across watersheds in the face of corporate threats to their water sources. We’ll continue to act in solidarity with water protectors, organize for more Blue Communities, and ensure that we address the water crisis alongside the climate crisis. That’s why we launched our No Water to Waste campaign to target the billion-dollar hedge fund-backed companies that were granted lofty permits to bottle and sell millions of litres of precious groundwater.
Donate Now The Council of Canadians brings people together through collective action and grassroots organizing to challenge corporate power and advocate for people, the planet and our democracy.

For more than 35 years, the Council has fought for values based on fair and sustainable trade, clean water, climate justice, democracy and stronger public health care. Facebook Twitter Link Website
