I wish I could tell you that American democracy was safe and secure.
I wish I could tell you that the climate crisis is well on its way to being solved and America’s military is no longer killing innocent civilians in other countries.
And most of all, I wish I could tell you that great journalism pays for itself and we don’t need to bother you asking for donations to support The Intercept.
But I can’t.
