Dear friend,
We’re halfway through the first 100 days of the new Parliament. So far, the only sign of a just transition is from people like you pushing your MPs to speak up – and it’s working. You’ve been flooding Parliament with support for a just transition. Now it’s time to ramp things up.
Flood the office of your MP to ask them to table the petition for a just transition. Email Your MP We don’t have time for delays. We know that in order for the federal government to act, they need to know you expect them to.
Together, we’ve been tackling this head on. And people like you from coast to coast have been taking action.
Over 100 people have been organizing petition drives in 40 communities for the past few months. Many more have written to the Prime Minister and their MPs to demand just transition legislation. Together we can amplify this organizing, by demanding our MPs treat the climate crisis as the emergency it is.
So far 10 Green, NDP, Liberal, and Conservative MPs have tabled our Flood Parliament petition and 12 more have committed to do so in the coming weeks. Click here to see if your MP is on the list.
If your MP has agreed to table the petition, that’s great! Click here to get started on collecting signatures in your community.
Even if your MP has already tabled the petition, there’s no limit to how many times they can do so. And the more times your MP tables the petition, the better. That’s how we flood Parliament. It’s as easy as starting with friends, family, and colleagues.
If your MP hasn’t agreed to table the petition, take a moment now to demand that they do so.
Your MP should table the just transition petition, or do it again if they’ve already tabled it once. Tell them to act now.
Together, we’re making big waves in Parliament for a just transition. But until the government finally keeps its promise and introduces legislation, we need to keep pushing. Will you join us?
With hope and resolve,
Dylan Penner
