PAOV — Healthcare workers in British Columbia will be paying for parking at work again. Health Minister Adrian Dix is reinstating paid parking at provincial healthcare facilities, claiming people have taken advantage of the free parking. Healthcare and frontline hospital workers are urging the government to find a solution to keep parking free for the workers who often work long shifts. The Minister of Health Adrian Dix is re-instating paid parking on March 4, 2022 at all provincial health care facilities. He states "non-hospital users are taking advantage of the situation to park for free while conducting business that is not hospital related."
Instead of charging health care workers, who do not have the option of working from home during the pandemic, why not provide a free parking pass for them to display in their car.
Not all of the health care facilities can be experiencing this problem, because many have a parkade with fob access. Health Authorities are also charging their staff for parking when staff are on vacation, off sick, and working over-time.
Help us end paid parking for the Provincial Health Care Workers of BC.
