The best antidote to despair -

Will you join us on March 12th as we mobilize to demand a better world? r1

Friends,

Last night, over 500 people from across the country joined us for an online conversation with climate leaders about how our movement for climate justice can respond to this moment of climate crisis, war, and the rise of the far right. As one of our guests, Avi Lewis, pointed out at the start of the call, there’s no better antidote to the uncertainty and despair of these past few weeks than to gather with hundreds of other people committed to justice and solidarity.

Juan Vargas, another guest and organizer with Climate Justice Edmonton, said something that really stuck with me. He talked about how right wing politicians like Alberta’s Premier Jason Kenney are shamelessly using the war in Ukraine to push for fossil fuel expansion and how important it is for our movement to push back without fear. As Juan put it, “This is our moment to dream big and push for a just transition instead of continuing to accept small gains.”

That’s exactly what we’re going to do on Saturday, March 12. Communities across the country are organizing to bring our bold vision to life as... part of the national Day of Action for a Just Transition.

Check out our full list of events to find an action near you. Don't see a local event near you? It is not too late to sign up to host an event. We will support you every step of the way to make your action as impactful as possible to win a Just Transition Act.

These are dark times, but this Day of Action is about pushing forward with hope and imagination. Across the country, people are planning press conferences from the near future, ribbon cuttings for just transition projects, and other imaginative events and actions. Climate leaders urged everyone on the call last night to start organizing for a just transition. We've made it easy to attend an action in your community.

There will be over 40 actions from coast to coast to coast on March 12th. Click here to see all the events that are planned for March 12th.

We know that when we rise up, we can make a big difference. Our last big Day of Action, on the eve of the fall 2021 federal leaders’ debates helped push climate to the top of the election agenda. This time, we have a chance to push Parliament to deliver a Just Transition Act and the future we all deserve.

We can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Onwards,

Atiya

PS - If you were unable to make the call, you can watch the recording available here.
