Paov,
I’m disgusted and appalled. This morning, the Conservative Party presented a motion in the House of Commons calling on Canada to fast track and subsidize pipelines as a response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.1
It is truly diabolical to exploit a humanitarian crisis to line the pockets of the fossil fuel industry. That’s why we’re not wasting any time.
This motion is already being debated and will be voted on soon, so we need to make sure our MPs hear from us ASAP. Will you take two minutes now to call your MP and tell them to reject the Conservative Party’s motion? Our one-click tool and pre-written script makes it easy to take action.
I want to be extremely clear. Building more pipelines will do nothing to help the Ukrainian people. Fossil fuels drive both war and climate change. We need to accelerate the transition away from oil and gas. New pipelines only serve to lock us into more dependence for decades to come.
It’s time to invest in real solutions, like a Just Transition Act, that protect people and... our planet. You know this. I know this. Let’s make sure our MPs know where to stand as they participate in the House of Commons debate on the Conservatives’ pro-pipeline motion. Call your MP right now.
During these dark times, we have to do so much more than simply fight the villains destroying our world. We have to stand up and demand the better, climate-safe, peaceful future we all deserve. That’s why thousands of people in dozens of communities across the country are taking action on March 12th to support the passage of a federal Just Transition Act. Find an action near you, today.
Onwards,
Emma
