Imagine this…

This Saturday, I’m attending a press conference from the future r1

Paov,

This Saturday, I’m attending a press conference from the future at the Vancouver Public Library.

That’s right. The future. At the event, the “Ministry of Just Transition” will present a 3-year update on what it has accomplished since its inception in 2022. The climate champions leading the charge will share progress updates on the new programs and institutions they have created by the year 2025 to combat the climate crisis, generate green jobs, build affordable housing, and address many other structural injustices.

If you’re confused, allow me to clarify. What we’re doing this Saturday, on March 12th, is an exercise in collectively imagining the better future we know we deserve. We’re holding a national Day of Action to put our vision for Canada’s just transition on full display.

From coast to coast to coast, we will use creative visuals, theatrics, and art to show politicians, the media, and, most importantly, our communities, what it can look like if our government invests in programs that accelerate the transition off of fossil fuels while protecting people and the planet.

There will be actions in 45+ communities across the country, click here... to see our national events map and find an event close to you.

If there isn’t an event close to you, we encourage you to add one to the map! You could do something as simple as gather a few friends and stage a small ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of a new Just Transition Jobs Centre outside your MP’s office. We will support you every step of the way with a toolkit, 1-1 support, and so much more. Click here to add a new event to our action map.

It’s been years since Trudeau promised a Just Transition Act to support workers and communities with the shift to a green economy. But we’ve yet to see any progress. That’s why, this Saturday, we’re showing our political leaders that if they don’t have the imagination needed to put forward a bold, transformative vision for a just transition, we will do the work for them.

There’s immense power when we stand together in support of a vision for a better future. This Saturday will be an opportunity to show our politicians what they can accomplish if they act with courage. Most importantly, we’re reminding our own community members what the future can look like if we organize to push our elected leaders to invest in our well-being and safety.

Hundreds of people across the country are participating in press conferences, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, green jobs fairs, and other theatrical displays that bring our grassroots vision for a Just Transition to the forefront.

Check out our Day of Action website to learn more about actions across the country and to access resources you can use if you’d like to lead the charge in your community.

Onwards,

Atiya
