Ben & Jerry's betrayed

Ben & Jerry's made a historic stance for Palestinian rights. But their parent company Unilever has made a backroom deal to try to reverse this decision. Call on Unilever to stop its betrayal of Ben & Jerry’s and stop profiting from illegal settlements.

We have some good news and bad news in our campaign to push international companies to stop being complicit in Israel’s apartheid regime.

The good news: General Mills, the parent company of Pillsbury, Cheerios, and Haagen-Dazs, quietly joined Ben & Jerry’s on the right side of Palestinian justice and divested from its factory built on stolen Palestinian land. And it's all thanks to tens of thousands of SumOfUs members like you who signed petitions and emailed execs leading to SumOfUs staff meeting with high-level staff at General Mills.

The bad news: Unilever, Ben & Jerry’s parent company, has made a backroom deal to continue selling ice cream in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

SumOfUs... members made a huge difference in getting Ben & Jerry’s to make its historic announcements to dissociate itself from apartheid Palestine. Multiple sources within Ben & Jerry’s said that we had an impact on this announcement finally being made. And now, we need you to finish the job and call on Unilever to support Ben & Jerry’s heroic decision and stand with Palestine.

Call on Unilever to stop its betrayal of Ben & Jerry’s and stop profiting from illegal settlements.

It's a bloody time in Palestine right now. At least 85 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces carrying out nightly raids, making it the deadliest year in the occupied territory since 2016.

Ben & Jerry’s and General Mills' decisions to distance themselves from operating in Occupied Palestinian Territory could be part of the solution to stop this bloodshed of Palestinians – if more companies join the corporate movement to exit apartheid Israel, it could force the hands of the Israeli forces much like companies forced a regime change in South Africa in the 1990s.

This is why we have joined forces with MPower Change to call on Unilever to honour its contract with Ben & Jerry’s and stay out of the ice cream maker's business.
