At any given moment, PBI has 55+ volunteers in the field accompanying at-risk human rights defenders who are on the frontlines of crucial social justice struggles in Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.

Last year, our field teams carried out 984 physical accompaniments of defenders at protests and marches, media conferences, court hearings, observation missions, meetings and ceremonies.

These volunteers commit to at least one year in the field, speak fluent Spanish, live in communal houses, and can experience intense situations.

Right now, PBI is seeking field volunteers for our teams in Mexico (the deadline to apply is November 11) and Colombia (deadline November 27).

If you are on social media, please help... us spread the word about the need for volunteers by retweeting our tweet about Colombia and our tweet about Mexico.

Last weekend we had a webinar (that 50+ people registered for) about being a PBI field volunteer and we plan to do 3-4 more next year. We are also developing plans to have a more visible presence on university campuses.
