Sylvia,

Glyphosate is the most widely used pesticide on the planet. Billions of kilograms of the poison have been sprayed across our fields and parks – seeping into our food and our bodies. We haven't even begun to understand the damage it's caused.

But thanks to one family of beekeepers in Germany, we’re one step closer to holding pesticide users responsible.

The Seusing family saw their small honey business decimated after glyphosate was sprayed in a nearby field. Their honeybees carried the contaminated nectar and pollen back to their beehives, forcing them to destroy 4 tons of honey.

Heartbreakingly, the Seusings were forced to shut down their business. So they sued the farmer responsible. And after a two-year legal battle, they won the case this year, setting an important precedent.

Now, the Seusing family will receive compensation for some of the honey contaminated with glyphosate – but it won’t be enough to cover their vast legal fees.... And they’ve asked for our help.

Can you chip in to help this family of beekeepers and continue our fight to stop the use of these deadly pesticides in the first place?

In April 2019, the Seusing family found out that Monsanto’s glyphosate had been sprayed in an adjacent field. Weeks later, the spring honey they collected from their bees contained 160 TIMES more glyphosate than what’s permitted!

Two months later, more glyphosate was applied – and another one and a half tons of cornflower honey had 60 times more glyphosate than allowed. In all, the contamination spread to 4 TONS of honey – equivalent to about 60,000 euros.

After a three-year legal battle, the Seusings finally won this year. But not before racking up a mountain of legal debt.

The court found that farmers can be held liable for damage caused by their pesticides – a huge first step in reducing the use of these poisons!

For too long, Monsanto has spent billions on sham studies, powerful lobbyists, and expensive lawyers to protect their profits. But they weren’t able to stop this case brought by just one family who lost everything.

This case sets a precedent for other beekeepers and farmers whose livelihoods are destroyed by the use of deadly pesticides. And together, our community can quickly cover the Seusing’s remaining legal fees – then campaign to stop the rampant use of pesticides that impact all of us every day. Are you in?
