Well,
Friend
, I think I can say that World Water Day 2023 was a huge success.
We engaged 274 classrooms in our Water Drop campaign, providing educational materials directly to over 7,120 students from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Those classrooms are now equipped with materials to learn about access to clean, safe water and the human right to water all year long.
We’re still working on collecting this year’s Water Drops, but you can check out Water Drops from previous years here.
As schools send us their Water Drops, I will collect them and plan for a delivery directly to Prime Minister Trudeau. So he knows that Canadians of all ages demand an end to drinking water advisories on First Nations.
Over 2,540 of you have let Trudeau know yourself, sending a letter on World Water Day. If you haven’t had a chance yet, it’s not too late. You can do it now here.
And exciting news – this World Water Day we announced the 100th Blue Community: Mother Teresa Secondary School in London, Ontario. It joins four existing Blue Communities in London which have started working collectively to achieve meaningful change on water issues in the region.
For the past several years, our World Water Day efforts have focused on ending the First Nations drinking water crisis. And we will do the same every World Water Day until the crisis no longer exists.
This advocacy doesn’t end with World Water Day. We will continue to develop new educational materials and engage more schools to grow our movement of young Public Water Champions. And we will continue to campaign for water protection, an end to water privatization, and access to safe and clean drinking water for all.
I know you haven’t had a chance to donate yet. Do you think you could make a small gift today to support the next phase of our water campaign?
With hope,Mark Calzavara
