Last week I asked for your input on where we should focus our energy as we gear up to bring two new organizers into the 350 Canada team. And let me tell you, the survey results have been fascinating so far.
While the survey will be open until Sunday evening, “building the good” is currently in the lead as the approach that energizes you the most.
It’s not surprising that “stopping the bad” is a close second, since it’s crucial to keep Canada’s massive carbon bombs in the ground to solve the climate crisis. But there’s clearly a strong desire to build and organize around a positive, compelling vision for a just transition. Your feedback, along with that of other activists and allies in the movement, will help us understand where we can be most effective and find the right balance.
So, what are you waiting for, Paov? Take the survey now to let us know what you think.
We’ve also included two optional, open-ended questions at the top of the survey. One of the questions asks you to describe what it would be like if you woke up tomorrow and the climate crisis had been solved. I haven’t read all your responses yet, but there are many beautiful reflections. Here’s one that stuck with me:
"I could sleep at night knowing my son's future won't be filled with suffering and destruction. I would feel validated that we were able to overcome such a huge challenge as a species, despite all the disagreements."
Your words have filled me with hope and motivation this week. I can’t wait to take action with you over the coming months to fight for the better future we all deserve. Please take a few minutes now to share your perspective on how we can best do that.
Onwards,
Amara
