TTC strike ban overturned

An Ontario Superior Court judge has struck down a 2011 law banning Toronto transit strikes at the Ontario Superior Court as a violation of the the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The ban was legislated one day before the expiry of ATU Local 113’s 2008 contract which saw a one-day strike ended by strikebreaking legislation From Ontario Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty at the request of Toronto Mayor David Miller.
