Dear Members of the York Catholic School Board,

We, the undersigned, are writing to express our deep concern about the recent actions of Mark Brosens, a member of... the York Catholic School Board. Mr. Brosens has not supported the raising of the Pride flag at Catholic schools in the York Region.

As members of the community, we strongly believe that inclusivity and acceptance are essential values that should be upheld by all educational institutions, regardless of their religious affiliations. All students, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, deserve to feel safe and supported in their schools.

We call on Mr. Brosens to resign from his position on the York Catholic School Board, as his views and actions are not representative of the inclusive and accepting community we strive to create. It is imperative that the York Catholic School Board is led by individuals who prioritize the well-being of all students, and who are committed to promoting a culture of acceptance and inclusivity.

Furthermore, we urge the York Catholic School Board to approve the raising of the Pride flag at all Catholic schools in the York Region. This symbolic act would send a powerful message of support and solidarity to LGBTQ+ students and their families, and would demonstrate the Board’s commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students.

We ask that the York Catholic School Board take immediate action to address these concerns, and to prioritize the well-being of all students in the York Region.
