You're Invited: Webinar May 24

We must be ready to respond as a movement when this long-awaited legislation comes out. That’s why we’ve teamed up with the Council of Canadians and other allies to organize a webinar about what’s in the Sustainable Jobs Plan and how we can win the strongest possible legislation to back it up. r1

Paov,

Earlier this year, thanks to relentless pressure from our movements, the federal government finally released their strategy for a just transition: the Sustainable Jobs Plan.

We expect them to introduce legislation to put the Sustainable Jobs Plan into effect next month.

Given the Liberals’ track record and their cozy relationship with the fossil fuel industry, the first draft of the Sustainable Jobs Act will probably fall well short of what’s needed to deliver a truly just transition.

We must be ready to respond as a movement when this long-awaited legislation comes out. That’s why we’ve teamed up with the Council of Canadians, Iron & Earth, BlueGreen Canada, and the Climate Emergency Unit to organize a webinar about what’s in the Sustainable Jobs Plan and how we can win the strongest possible legislation to back it up.

Paov, please join us on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 at 4 p.m. PT /... 5 MT / 6 CT / 7 ET / 8 AT / 8:30 NT for "Communities, Not Corporations: Transition for People and the Planet."

Together, we can win a strong Sustainable Jobs Act that invests in Indigenous sovereignty, workers, and communities rather than false, market-based solutions that line the pockets of corporations and the ultra-wealthy. I’m excited to explore what that looks like with this exciting panel.
