Dear Friend,
The wildfires are still raging. Toxic smoke keeps abruptly descending on millions of us. And last week, the world experienced the hottest day ever recorded – three days in a row.
We’re in a climate crisis, but instead of pulling the fire alarm our government keeps bailing out the arsonists: Big Oil CEOs.
So it’s time to turn up the heat on our MPs. We’re going to pressure them to stop letting Big Oil grill the planet, and to implement a just transition instead. That’s why we’ve teamed up with our friends at 350 Canada to create a toolkit to help you make the most of MP BBQ season!
Download your toolkit and register your action today to grill your MP for a just transition.
While the Liberal government has taken some steps with their Sustainable Jobs plan and legislation, they’re still not listening to our demands for a transition that prioritizes communities over corporations.
As our communities face the devastating impacts of floods and wildfires this summer, our MPs are indulging in endless BBQ meet-and-greets, bolstering support in their federal ridings across Canada.
That’s where you come in. Alongside people from coast-to-coast-to-coast, you’ve been blazing the path to change by tirelessly working to keep a just transition front and centre.
And now that Bill C-50 – the Sustainable Jobs Act – has been introduced and will be debated in the fall, we need to keep the pressure on our MPs. Luckily, BBQ season provides us with the perfect opportunity to spice things up.
We know that our decision-makers won’t act unless they feel the heat from their constituents. That’s why we’re inviting you to join us in grilling our MPs on whether they’ll support transition legislation that’s truly just.
By organizing in our communities to show up at MP BBQs and events this summer with tough questions about the kind of just transition that’s needed, we can make them feel the heat to ensure the kind of legislation workers, communities and the climate so urgently need.
Together, we can ensure that Indigenous consent, sovereignty, and knowledge take centre stage, and that workers and communities are put before corporate interests.
Will you grill your MP this summer to stop Big Oil grilling the planet? Download your toolkit today!
Now is the time to get fired up, to seize the opportunity of BBQ season to hold your MP’s feet to the fire, and to demand the just transition we deserve. Together, let’s light the fire under our MPs and create a future that’s just and equitable for all.

With hope and resolve,
