Congress, support our right to know!

Label GE food

Support GE labeling

Tell Congress we have a right to know what’s in our food and how it’s grown.

Stop the DARK Act!

Take Action

Dear Paov,

Yup, Monsanto & Co. are at it again. Teaming up with other Big Food interests, they're pushing a bill to ensure consumers are kept in the dark about genetically engineered (GE) food once and for all.

Dubbed the “Deny Americans the Right to Know” or DARK Act by its critics, this bill would block states from passing GE food labeling laws and make “voluntary labeling” the law of the land. Not good.

Speak up today!» A Congressional hearing on this proposed law is set for tomorrow. Contact your Representative today and urge them to oppose H.R. 4432 — or any similar bill that might be introduced in the new Congress. More than 90% of Americans want to know what’s in our food and how it’s grown. It’s time for lawmakers to listen.

This move to gut state-based labeling laws isn’t surprising. Since the landmark 2012 election in California — where pesticide and Big Food interests spent more than $45 million to narrowly defeat Proposition 37 — momentum to label genetically engineered food has been building across the country.

In 2013 and 2014 there were over 70 GE labeling bills and ballot initiatives introduced in 30 states. The recent vote in Oregon was so close, votes are currently being recounted. Monsanto & Co. opposed each and every one, often spending millions in the process. The DARK act would block them all in one fell swoop.

Don't keep consumers in the dark» Monsanto and the rest of the “Big 6” pesticide and biotech companies are intent on thwarting GE labeling. Why? To protect and continue expanding the markets for their products — including the pesticides that GE crops are engineered to withstand.

Many of the processed foods we eat and feed our children include genetically engineered ingredients (or GMOs). But we have no way of knowing which, because these foods aren’t labeled. Time for that to change!

Join us in calling on Congress to stop the DARK Act and any future bills like it.

Thanks for speaking up!
