Tell Congress to support our right to know

Label GE food

Stop the DARK Act!

Tell Congress we have a right to know what’s in our food and how it’s grown.

Take Action

Dear Paov,

The battle over labeling genetically engineered (GE) food is heating up in Washington, DC. With the new Congress in place, Monsanto & Co. are once again pushing a bill that would ensure consumers are kept in the dark about GE food.

Dubbed the “Deny Americans the Right to Know” or DARK Act by its critics, this bill would block all GE food labeling laws — at both the state and national level — and make “voluntary labeling” the law of the land. Not good.

Speak up today! » Join the National Week of Action for GE labeling! Contact your Representative and Senators today and urge them to oppose the DARK Act. More than 90% of Americans want to know what’s in our food and how it’s grown. It’s time for lawmakers to listen.

This move to gut state-based labeling laws isn’t surprising. Since the landmark 2012 election in California — where pesticide and Big Food interests spent more than $45 million to narrowly defeat Proposition 37 — momentum to label genetically engineered food has been building across the country.

In 2013 and 2014 there were more than 70 GE labeling bills and ballot initiatives introduced in 30 states. Monsanto & Co. opposed each and every one, often spending millions in the process. The DARK act would block them all in one fell swoop.

Don't keep consumers in the dark » Why are Monsanto and the rest of the “Big 6” pesticide and biotech companies intent on stopping GE labeling? To protect the markets for their products — including the pesticides that GE crops are engineered to withstand. Tell Congress to step in and protect our right to know, today.

Thanks for speaking up!
