Energy East is facing some mighty foes:

Friends,

Energy East faces some mighty foes -- namely us, the growing Canadian climate justice movement.

In just two weeks, the Energy East People’s Intervention has filed hundreds of applications to intervene in the National Energy Board’s review of the pipeline.

The NEB will have to review every application we file. When they're done, they'll need to decide if they are going to put Big Oil's agenda ahead of the safety of our communities and the future of our planet.

Applying to intervene will force PM Harper’s government to make public their opposition to a sound, transparent, comprehensive review of the biggest tar sands pipeline ever proposed -- and that’s the first step to undermining their legitimacy, and stopping this project for good.

We delivered over 100,000 messages from people across Canada demanding a full climate review of the pipeline, but the NEB has refused. Stephen Harper has stacked the board with oil executives and their political allies, people that would happily ignore climate change and community voices -- if they could get away with it.

Applying by the thousands ensures they can’t get away with a rubber stamped review of Energy East, and puts PM Harper’s refusal to listen to science and communities on full display.

The Harper government won’t stop pushing pipelines until we force them to be accountable for the climate & community impacts of these projects. Already hundreds of applications have been filed, and community groups have organized dozens of events to submit applications en masse -- add your voice today.

Onwards,

Cam Fenton

P.S. there are also community events being organized across Canada to file applications to the NEB en masse. You can find one near you by clicking here or click here to host one in your community.
