The Council of Canadians has donated $500 to a Sustainable North Grenville fundraising campaign to keep the Kemptville Dandelion Festival free of sponsorship from TransCanada, the company behind the controversial 1.1 million barrels per day tar sands pipeline.

Corporation offers $1 billion to First Nation to support LNG terminal and pipeline
The Malaysian-based energy company Petronas is offering $1 billion dollars to the Lax Kw'alaams First Nation in British Columbia to secure their support for the proposed $36 billion Pacific NorthWest LNG project on Lelu Island near Prince Rupert. The BC government is supporting this by offering to transfer 2,200 acres of land, valued at $108 million, to the First Nation.

Big audience in Vancouver for election town hall forum
It was a full house last night in Vancouver for the first of ten election-focused town hall meetings across the country. The panel featured Council of Canadians chairperson Maude Barlow, Canadian Union of Public Employees national president Paul Moist, Grand Chief Stewart Phillip and instructor/ activist Itrath Syed. The moderator for the evening was Council of Canadians campaigner Brigette DePape and it began with a territorial welcome by Cecilia Point of the Musqueam Nation.
