INTERNET INSIDER
May 8th, 2015
... Paov,
This week OpenMedia launched a new global network to safeguard one of the fundamental building blocks of the web: the hyperlink.
Old Media giants and out-of-touch governments around the world are advancing policies that would restrict our right to link to content of our choosing, and if these new censorship provisions are approved, it will irreparably change the Web. Here’s one terrifying example: legislators in the EU are considering rules that have the potential to make individuals liable for the content of websites they link to online.
We know that when these censorship schemes are successful, they affect the entire Internet. Even if you don’t live in the EU, some of your favourite websites probably do–and you can prepare to see more broken links and blocked content if we don’t speak with a unified voice now.
Join forces with thousands of Internet users around the world, and help us Save the Link.
Onwards!
