Dear A,

It’s been a whirlwind couple of days. First, we won! Tim Hortons stopped showing Enbridge’s slick tar sands ads in stores thanks to tens of thousands of Canadians who spoke out with SumOfUs. But now, the Conservative Party and its shills are using their well-funded bully pulpit to boycott Timmies for making the right choice -- the best one for Canadian communities and First Nations.

It’s no secret why the Conservatives are on the defensive: they lost their power base in Alberta, and know they are losing the trust of Canadians fast. We are ruining their pipe(line) dreams.

We know that Enbridge and its allies will be going into overdrive to come out of this squeaky clean. So we’re putting the pedal to the metal -- will you help us go all-out to counter the oil-and-gas PR fightback?

Yes, I'll chip in CA$60 to fight back against Enbridge, the Conservatives and their friends.

There is an unbroken wall of First Nations opposition to the Northern Gateway project -- and First Nations are using powerful legal tools in both Canadian constitutional law and their own unextinguished Indigenous laws to oppose this project. The people of Kitimat on the pipeline route also raised their voices and voted against Enbridge in a local plebiscite.

Now these Conservative insiders are showing their true colours by pushing back with all the hot air they can muster -- they’re saying that they don’t care about First Nations, small-town Canada, or the planet that we all live on.

They’re saying you’re not Canadian. Let’s show them this is the most Canadian fight of them all -- protecting our natural environment, listening to First Nations and impacted communities, and sustainable stewardship of our natural resources.

These bullies are looking out for their buddies in oil and gas boardrooms. And why wouldn’t they -- there’s an election coming up, and they need all the campaign contributions they can get.

Canadian SumOfUs members have given them a huge wake-up call. Their old tactics just don’t work anymore, not against grassroots opposition like this. Their hot-air response is proof we’re winning. We’re already fighting back hard against Enbridge and its allies, and we know that losing out on vital ad space in one of the most Canadian places of all -- Timmies -- is a big blow to their PR campaign. That’s why we need to build on the momentum.

We’ll use this moment to ramp up our campaigns to stop the pipeline and make sure Harper and his buddies don’t get re-elected this year. From targeted online ad campaigns to in-person actions, we’ll be everywhere they are.

Will you stand behind the First Nations and local communities speaking out?

Yes, I'll chip in CA$60 to fight back.

Thanks for all you do,
Angus, Rosa, Emma and the team at SumOfUs
