Jobs, Justice, Climate Action: One Month to Go!

r1

Friends,

Apparently, Stephen Harper thinks that we can wait 85 years to deal with climate change. Yesterday, he signed on to a pledge to phase out fossil fuels by the year 21001 -- but you and I both know that we can’t wait that long.

We know that we can and need to act now, and that’s exactly what’s happening all across Canada. We are mobilizing to demand a justice-based economy that works for people and the planet.

We know that we’ve already emailed you about this a few times, and it’s for a good reason: We are approaching a historical turning point, and it will take all of us to make the new economy a reality.

It's time to raise our voices. Here's the plan:

On July 4th - Communities across the country will declare that we, the people, are greater than the tar sands. Click here... to find an action near you.

On July 5th - Indigenous frontline communities, labour unions, social justice organizations, migrant justice organizers, students and many others will hit the streets of downtown Toronto to march for jobs, justice and the climate. If you're close to Toronto, you do not want to miss this moment: click here to RSVP today.

Naomi Klein has called the forces coming together to mobilize for jobs, justice and the climate the “first steps of a new climate movement in Canada.”2 We need you there to take those steps with us. Join us on July 4th for the day of action for jobs, justice and the climate, or march with us in downtown Toronto on July 5th.

Either way, see you on the streets and out on the land as we take the first steps towards a new economy together.

In Respect & Peace,

Clayton Thomas-Muller
