Help us restore citizenship equality

This Canada Day, we celebrated with our friends and families the values that make us proud to be Canadian— equality, liberty, freedom, and justice.

Today, we need your help to restore one of the most fundamental pieces of those values: citizenship equality.

As signatories to our petition to stop second-class citizenship, you already know that Bill C-24 has made citizenship harder to get and easier to lose, creating two-tiers of citizenship that give some Canadian citizens more rights than others.

Together, we have already started an important national conversation on this issue. More than 105,000 people have raised their voices to say NO to second-class citizenship, with hundreds more changing their social media profiles to help spread the word.

With Canada Day still fresh in our minds and commitment to equality in our hearts, we're asking you to make a donation today to help us launch our court challenge to the changes made by Bill C-24.

The BC Civil Liberties Association is a small team, unafilliated with any other organization in the country. We exist, and are able to do our work, only because of the generous donations of our supporters.

Our court challenges are carried out by pro bono counsel working for free because they believe in our issues, but moving forward a case like this still costs tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Your support, big or small, is greatly valued by our organization and by all those who believe that citizenship equality, no matter where you or your family come from, is something worth protecting.

Please donate now to help us restore citizenship equality.

Sincerely,

Charlotte Kingston, Director of Community Engagement,
and the BCCLA team

P.S. Every donation makes a difference to our ability to put together the best case. Please make a donation in support of our work here.
