PAOV – There's a new petition taking off on Change.org, and we think you might be interested in signing it.

Pan Am Games Organizers: Publicly apologize for the decision to use infant lion cubs in the torch relay

Whitby, Ontario

On June 5th 2015, the Pan Am torch made its way through Clarington and was held by the owner of the infamous Bowmanville Zoo. A number of the zoo's performing animals and their trainers followed him in a procession. Included were two infant lion cubs who are currently being used as props in "cub petting" and other money making opportunities for the zoo. To subject such a young and vulnerable animal to large screaming crowds for the sake of attention is the height of cruelty. Lions are majestic apex predators with great family bonds. These cubs' mother is likely suffering a great deal now that she is faced with having a litter pulled from her for the second year in a row so they can spend their youth being manhandled by humans. We the undersigned are calling on the organizing committee of the Toronto Pan Am games to publicly apologize for their negligent decision to participate in the exploitation of these fragile cubs for money.
