Honduras
The Man Considered the Most Evil in Central America, Found Dead
Miguel Faucusse, thought to be the richest and most powerful man in Honduras, manufactured a complex regime of repression against civil society after he became the chief economic advisor to president Roberto Suazo Cordova in the 1980s. Read more here.
Mexico
State of Sinaloa Sees a 110% increase in the Rate of Femicide

Lawmaker Maria del Rosario Sanchez reports that more than 350 femicides have been reported this year and that under the current administration, that number is likely to increase. Further information and a video are available here.
Nicaragua
Nicaragua Celebrate the Anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution
Every year on July 19, hundreds of people from all over the country gather at Plaza La Fe (also known as Plaza de la Revolución) in Managua to commemorate a historical and inspiring event: the fall of the militarized Somaza family dictatorship. This family ruled the country in a harsh and unscrupulous way for more than four decades. The dynasty was overthrown after the National Sandinista Revolution, which took place when people from all sectors – workers, businessmen, peasants, students, and guerrillas – joined forces and finally defeated the Somoza dynasty and the National Guard on July 19, 1979.
