Friends,

Tonight, some of the most well-known leaders in the climate movement are getting together in New York City to talk about the road through the Paris Climate Summit.

Our friends in the United States are bringing together leaders like Naomi Klein, Bill McKibben, and Melina Laboucan-Massimo, along with a ton of activists from around the world for the "Off+On" event. The best part is that they’re going to be live streaming it, so you can tune in too:

2015 is on track to be the hottest year in recorded history, and this December hundreds of world governments will meet in Paris to try to strike a global climate agreement. It will be the biggest gathering of its kind since 2009, and it’s potentially a big deal for our global movement.

So far, however, commitments from world governments just aren’t adding up. This has the makings of... a global failure of ambition -- and at a moment when renewable energy is becoming a revolutionary economic force that could power a just transition away from fossil fuels. Here in Canada, meanwhile, we’re in the middle of an election campaign in which we've had to force politicians to even talk about climate change, and in which the policies being presented are miles from the kind of action we need.

At tonight's event, you’ll hear the opposite: bold ideas that help chart the road ahead for the climate movement -- how we're going to use mass action and divestment to keep turning off dirty energy and continue turning on clean, renewable power all over the world.

We know that we need to continue to organize well beyond this election. (Right now we’re getting ready to launch something big that will happen after the election and before the Paris climate talks.) By tuning in tonight, you’ll have a front row seat in this crucial conversation.

Don't forget to tweet in ideas and comments while you're watching! Just use the hashtag #offandon to make sure your tweets show up on the livestream page.

Onwards,

Cam
