Harper's cushy appointments

SumOfUs r1 ...

A,

How much does it cost to land a cushy $300,000 government-appointed job? Ask the Conservatives.

Our team of investigative researchers just followed the money to map corporate influence in our electoral system. And you won’t believe what they found.

Over 350 of Canada’s most influential government appointments were all given to Conservative Party donors.

With less than 3 weeks to go until the election, and the Conservatives ahead in the polls, we need to get this information out there now. Can you help us make this huge?

Take a look at our brand-new online tool, and then share with everyone you know.

If you don’t use social media, feel free to forward this email to your friends to show how together we're uncovering how money is influencing this Federal election.

By combing through and cross-referencing official government data, we found influential appointments in every corner of the country on dozens and dozens of different boards, commissions and tribunals, including:

  • The Parole Board of Canada, where at least 19 members are Conservative donors;
  • The Immigration and Refugee Board, where at least 9 members are Conservative donors;
  • The Canada Revenue Agency, where at least 7 out of 15 board members are Conservative donors;
  • The CBC, where 9 of its 12 board members are Conservative donors;
  • The National Energy Board where 5 of 11 members are Conservative donors.
  • And so. much. more.

The data is damning. It’s clear the Conservative Party is rewarding money and loyalty with appointments paid for by taxpayers.

We designed a game to illustrate what a serious problem this is -- and so this information will be seen by as many people as possible.

Play now, and then share with everyone you know.

Money in politics is no laughing matter, and we’re proud of what research we’ve already managed to dig up. This is just the beginning -- we’ll be in touch soon with more.

Thank you for fighting for a government that puts people over profits,

Emma, Liz, Rosa and Angus, your SumOfUs Canada team
