Phew! What a week it’s been! Your OpenMedia team spent Monday evening glued to live streams and social media feeds as the election results poured in. It didn’t take long for the end result to become clear - Justin Trudeau’s Liberals were elected with a solid majority, meaning they can now govern for the next four years without support from any of the other parties.

But what will all this mean for our digital future? Well, as our Laura Tribe wrote as the dust was settling on Tuesday morning, one thing will stay very much the same: no matter who’s in power, OpenMedia will work to hold them accountable to Canadians. And it’s clear that there are going to be many challenges ahead, as our own Josh Tabish outlines for Daily Dot.

But one thing all of us here at OpenMedia can agree on - you folks are awesome. As in, 150% flat out amazing! Working together, this community has just pulled off the most far-reaching election campaign in our history - launching a crowdsourced election platform, writing over 30,000 letters to candidates, publishing a crowdsourced report card, engaging over 2 million people on social media in the last week alone… all in all, the past 11 weeks have been incredible, and we couldn’t have done any of it without you. Thank you from all of us!

An official CRTC report published this week confirms what most of us can tell by checking our bank balance… telecommunications costs in Canada are out of control. Speak up for lower prices and improved choice right now at UnblockCanada.ca
