Trudeau must ensure the right to water and sanitation for First Nations within five years

On October 5, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau stated, "We have 93 different communities under 133 different boil water advisories across the country. [Serpent River First Nation] Chief Isadore Day has called for within five years there should be zero, and I've told the Chief and I've told First Nations many times, we agree with that, and a Canadian government led by me will address this as a top priority because it's not right in a country like Canada that this has gone on for far too long."



WTO ruling hampers renewable energy plan in India

A World Trade Organization (WTO) state-state dispute settlement panel has struck down the Indian government's local content requirement for its solar power programme. India is seeking to add 100,000MW of solar power by 2022. India had sought the local content requirement for the estimated 10,000MW of solar power it would provide a subsidy to create.



New report: The Human Right to Water in the Diagnosis and Program for Human Rights in the Federal District in Mexico

Mexico City has been witness of a very interesting process regarding human rights. Starting in 2007 a human rights diagnosis was drafted through a participative process. Later, a program with specific action points was written and became law. The experience of organizations pushing to change the everyday violations to the human right to water with these tools is explained in this report in Spanish.
