I am a Muslim who has lived in Canada for over 14 years. I’ve started this signature campaign to thank you on behalf of Muslim Canadians, Syrian refugee families, and all communities across the country who are proud to welcome refugees to Canada.

It was heartwarming to see you at the Toronto airport to personally welcome Syrian refugees to Canada. It meant so much to see the happiness on the faces of families when they landed in Toronto, after they have experienced so much hardship. Thank you for telling them “you are home” while helping them pick out winter jackets. You have truly set an example that we hope other world leaders will follow. You have demonstrated that compassion can overcome threat and empathy can overcome fear.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping your election promise, defying all odds and criticisms, and your determination to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees to our country. You have provided them an opportunity to rebuild their lives in a peaceful and secure environment. You have demonstrated true Canadian values and made Canadians proud. We thank you immensely for this effort and action. We request that you kindly accept our thanks.
