Tell Congress to stand up for food safety & public healthDear Paov,
Well, he did it. This morning President Obama signed the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement, and sent it along to Congress for review.
This treaty is a very bad idea. If approved, it will undermine hard-won protections for food safety, public health and the environment.
We can still turn the tide! As Congress digs into the details of this massive deal, tell your Senators and Representative that it’s time to stand by their constituents and say no to more corporate power.
The TPP is the largest trade deal in history, covering 792 million people and about 40 percent of the world’s economy. For many in Congress, now is their first chance to see the details of this 12-country pact — while corporations like Monsanto have had a seat at the negotiating table throughout.
Amazingly, rules affecting our entire economy — food, farming and many other sectors — have all been negotiated behind closed doors.
Tell Congress to draw the line. The TPP puts corporate interests above all else — definitely not the kind of trade we need. So much is at stake — speak up, today!
