PAOV – There's a new petition taking off on Change.org, and we think you might be interested in signing it.
Cette pétition prend de l'ampleur sur Change.org, souhaitez-vous la signer? Elle demande que cesse la chasse au rhinocéros, un animal en voie d'extinction qui n'est chassé que pour les soi-disant vertus de sa corne.
Petitioning International Animal Rescue, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Bank Of America Save the rhinos
If you didn’t know this already, rhinos are critically endangered. There are fewer than 2,500 left, in pockets of Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Namibia, and Tanzania. In the past 45 years, the rhino population has decreased by 90%. It’s important that we save them because they have the same worth as we do on this earth. They have been here longer than us and they deserve the respect.
On Thursday, February 18th, I watched a video in geography that said rhinos are almost extinct. I never knew this before and I really like rhinos, so I decided to do something about it. Soon, I had a new idea for my blog that I have been thinking about for a long time.
You might ask why they are endangered. Well, they are endangered because humans hunt them. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinoceros the horns are made of keratin, the same type of protein that makes up hair and fingernails. Both African species and the Sumatran rhinoceros have two horns, while the Indian and Javan rhinoceros have a single horn. The IUCN red list identifies three of the species as critically endangered. This means that rhinos are hunted for their horns, and once humans have the rhino they will also kill it for it’s meat and ivory.
