We never run out of things to report to over here, and that’s because we’re very busy, all the time, trying to keep the Internet open, accessible and surveillance-free. The latest threat to the Internet comes from EU lawmakers, who are still considering the ridiculous idea of charging people for linking content online (known as ‘link tax’, AKA ancillary copyright).

Just yesterday, the EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Günther H. Oettinger, suggested that the Commission will continue to pursue this flawed idea which OpenMedia and nearly 100 other civil liberties, business and expert groups, have been campaigning against with you at Save the Link. Links are the basic building blocks of the web. Without links to route us around the web, the content we want to see would be locked away. If you haven’t already, join our network at SaveTheLink.org, and stay tuned on updated on how to get your voice heard.
