Meeting the Minister in charge of electoral reform

Thank you to the 5,000 people in the Leadnow community who have already joined the Vote Better campaign by writing to Prime Minister Trudeau and other key leaders to show your support for proportional representation!

Now we’ve been invited to meet with the Minister in charge of electoral reform, Maryam Monsef, next Tuesday, May 3rd! This is a key moment to show her that support for proportional representation is spreading all across Canada - and that means we need to inspire more people to join the Vote Better campaign fast.

We’ve produced a series of graphical ads that demonstrate why proportional representation is the voting system of choice for the overwhelming majority of modern democracies - from fair elections to more inclusive government and a stronger democracy.

With your support, we can pay for Facebook advertising that is cheap, effective and targeted - our experience shows that we can reach over 60 people with every $1 you donate!

Can you chip in $5, $20 or $50 today to supercharge the campaign before we meet Minister Monsef next Tuesday? Click here to check out the Vote Better ads and donate to reach hundreds of thousands of people across Canada.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 so we can reach tens of thousands more people with targeted campaigns on Facebook and in communities across Canada, and kickstart the next phase of the campaign.

  1. With $200 we can cover the cost of sending our electoral reform campaign leader to Ottawa to meet Minister Monsef

  2. With $5,000 we can reach hundreds of thousands of people through Facebook ads asking them to show their support for proportional representation with the Vote Better campaign

  3. With $10,000 we can produce postcards and leaflets to raise awareness and build support for proportional representation in communities across Canada

  4. With $20,000 we can begin producing lawn signs so more and more people can proudly show their support for proportional representation

Prime Minister Trudeau has opened up a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make the next election the first truly fair election in Canadian history, but we need to act fast or we’ll lose this moment.

Powerful forces have already started mobilizing to stop electoral reform, including hostile media outlets that are misleading people about proportional representation. The meeting with Minister Monsef is an amazing opportunity to show growing momentum for proportional representation, and we can reach thousands of people with your donation. Click here to see the ads and chip in.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated to this campaign. The Leadnow community has consistently ranked electoral reform as a top priority, and strongly voted in favour of proportional representation over ranked ballots or maintaining our broken first-past-the-post system. Your donations have helped us co-found the Every Voter Counts Alliance with Fair Vote Canada and others, and start the Vote Better campaign for “made in Canada” proportional representation.

Together, we can end the first-past-the-post system for good and replace it with something much better.
