PAOV –
Dogs aren’t food. But each year over 10,000 dogs, including stolen pets and strays, are rounded up in June for the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in Yulin, China.
The dogs that are brought to Yulin are usually sick and can easily transfer their diseases to humans – in fact, between 2002 and 2006, 338 rabies cases were reported in Yulin. Everyone that contracted rabies died. So, this isn’t just about the well-being of dogs, it is also very much about the health and safety of humans.
We know that dogs can be the most loyal and loving animals to humans. Families in rural China keep them as watchdogs to protect their homes, and many other Chinese families keep dogs as beloved pets. This is why we’re humbly asking the Yulin Government to shut down the Dog Meat Festival. But we need your help.
Join us in asking the Yulin Government to shut down the Yulin Dog Meat Festival and save the lives of over ten thousand dogs.
We know that change is possible because we have seen other Chinese traditions end without hurting Chinese culture, which we deeply respect. This is why we’re hopeful that change is possible for the ten thousand dogs that are rounded up and killed each year for the festival.
Last year, over 1.5 million people from around the world signed our petition on Change.org asking that this festival be shut down. We know that the more signatures we receive, the more attention this issue gains, and the more likely it is that the Yulin Government will address it. This is why your signature is so important – every single signature our petition receives gets us closer to saving thousands of dogs.
Sign my petition asking Yulin Governor, Mr. Chen Wu, to please shut down the Yulin “Dog Meat Festival.”
Thank you,
