No Tickets Available

You’ve been waiting all year for this. Your favourite band has announced the dates for its summer concert tour and tickets are about to go on sale. You and your friends figure out a plan to try and secure tickets. All at once, you log on to your computers and wait for the moment tickets sales open. And then you try - over and over again - to select available tickets and complete the purchase. Suddenly, in a matter of minutes, the words - NO TICKETS AVAILABLE - pop up on your screen.

You text your friends - they see the same thing. Not a single one of you got tickets. How can that be? Angry and disappointed, you check out a ticket exchange and resale sites and there they are - hundreds of tickets to the sold out show, listed for far above the original selling price. And there’s no way you can afford those tickets. What happened?

For many music and sports fans, this story is all too familiar. Today, scalping companies continue to use bots to buy large quantities of tickets as soon as they’re available, effectively making it impossible for many fans to afford them.

At Change.org, we’d like to know what you think about the ticket scalping situation. Should companies be doing more to stop bots? Should governments? Who should be leading the way? You can start a petition to urge action here.

From getting the chance to watch your basketball team battle it out for the championship to that once in a lifetime experience of seeing a band you love play their last show, these are moments fans live for. Do you think it’s time to reclaim these moments for the fans? You can speak up byr0 from these emails.
