A handful of things to do this weekend ...

A handful of things to do this weekend ... r1 ... I realize that many of you are already enjoying your summer vacations (in the northern hemisphere), but for those of you still at work, here are a few things I thought you might find of interest:

1. Freedom at Work. This is a world conference aiming to mobilize trade union members, staff and officials and (potential) allies for the equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) workers. It will be held next month in Amsterdam, 4-6 August 2016. It's organized by Netwerk Roze FNV, a network of trade union members working for sexual and gender diversity, as part of FNV, the largest trade union organisation in the Netherlands. For more information, visit their website.

2. Last week, I spoke at a major European Trade Union Confederation conference in Brussels on the subject of "Workers rights, internationalism and the Internet". You may be interesting in reading what I said, here.

3. Are you using the Flipboard app on your mobile phone? We're experimenting with a LabourStart magazine for Flipboard. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the word "Flipboard" in the subject line and I'll send you details.

4. If you live in the USA, please take a moment to support the online petition campaign launched by the Communication Workers of America demanding that the Democratic Party take a strong stand against the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). For details, and to sign up, please click here.

5. Finally, I wrote to you earlier this week about our campaign against union-busting at WIPO. Many of you have already signed up to support the campaign. It's very important that we spread the word -- please make sure you've shared the campaign with your fellow union members. The campaign is located at http://www.labourstart.org/go/wipo2016 .

Thanks!
