Dear friends,
The nicest thing just happened...
On Sunday, the Canadian Press published a profile of our work declaring that the BCCLA "punches above its weight in national legal disputes."
From our renewed work on the right to death with dignity to mass warrantless surveillance, solitary confinement, and national security legislation that repeals the Charter violations of Bill C-51, the Association is busier than ever.
That's why I'm asking you to become a monthly supporter today. Click here to join our movement for human rights and civil liberties.
As the article explains, "[t]he organization, which is a non-partisan, charitable society, has only four lawyers on staff. Its budget for 2016 is $1.2 million, only 20% of which is regular, reliable funding."
In terms of both staffing and budget, we are dwarfed by many of our peers, and yet we continue to be one of the most impactful organizations in the country.
We could not do the work we do without our monthly supporters. They know that we stretch every dollar to make the biggest impact that we can. They are committed and generous, and they are the lifeblood of this organization.
We need you to join them. Monthly donors provide reliable support that helps us plan for the future.
Your support matters. Every donation and every supporter is helping to achieve a more free, just, and equal country.
Together, we can build the Canada that we want to see.
Sincerely,
Josh Paterson, Executive Director
and the BCCLA team
P.S. Are you following us on Facebook or Twitter? I just posted a new video about yesterday's meetings in Ottawa with the Office of the Prime Minister.
